I think its time...
Since this 2020 World Series is basically going to be a coronation, I thought I'd get to my #SFGiants missive(s) thread, since most of my fellow fans have way too rosy of a view of the future
Do me a favor. Go and look up the current Dodgers roster that (is) just (about to win) it all.

Betts, Bellinger, Seager, Buehler, Turner, Kershaw...pretty much an All-Star team and they can still win a whole lot more and, Heaven forbid, add more to their roster
Now go look up the Giants current roster, keeping in mind who will likely be around for Opening Day 2022.

Posey, Belt, Longo, Yaz, Dickerson, Crawford...okay.

Cueto will be gone by then. Now take a look at the pitching staff.

(On second thought...don't. Its gonna be bad)
Yes, I know, Bart, Ramos, Luciano, Bishop will have all made it by '22 or '23, give or take. But do you honestly think this core will be better than Betts/Bellinger/Seager/whatever LA gobbles up in FA?

And maybe its me, but...the pitching in this org...doesn't do it for me
Kevin Gausman really shouldn't be the best or even 2nd best starting pitcher on this team. Heck, this is a franchise that won 3 World Series rings mostly due to very good to legendary pitching and its almost like its an afterthought at the...um, top
(Yes, I know, this is going under an unlikely assumption that Gausman re-signs)
Which leads me now to Farhan Zaidi. I've tweeted just about ad nauseum how much I don't care for him, about how uncritical most of the fan base is w/him, not to mention the beat writers going full fanboy (like Hank Schulman saying the org is "so much better run w/him in charge")
We just lost Ralph Barbieri a few months ago (RIP Razor). You all remember how much he took Brian Sabean to task when he went on KNBR. Who in Bay Area sports media would dare take on Zaidi like that? Because this is now an also-ran team that's going nowhere and will stay there
I'll admit, they weren't going to do much this year even with a shortened season, but the Giants aren't winning anything with...Mike Yastremski as the heart and soul this team. Yaz is a solid, decent player on a contending team, but he just isn't doing that as a Giant
I also know we're all happy that Pence, Sandoval and (soon) Samardzija are gone, but anyone that will even have a shot at taking down the Padres, let alone the Dodgers, isn't walking through that door for at least the next several years, and that's being optimistic
And I'll just go ahead and say it despite the small sample size this season: Joey Bart just might become the new Brandon Belt. Which is an unbelievably damning thing to say about a No. 2 overall pick, but at least we can still blame Bobby Evans for that one, right? Yay, us!
Ownership is about to take it on the chin financially due to COVID regardless, but the fact they hired a guy who thinks the way to chase down a future Dodger dynasty is to become an ersatz Oakland A's is a great way to sell tickets, then some rich people are going to lose money!!
(Granted, I'm making a leap here in thinking that fans will be allowed into MLB stadia next year, but we might just have to surmise that I suppose)
At some point, and I think that may be around 2024, when the Dodgers are about to win their 5th straight World Series, when both them and San Diego beat what remains of this Giants team senseless 19 games each season, and tickets can't be given away.. that's when it will be...
...the moment where maybe, just maybe, we'll realize Alex Dickerson wasn't going to be the guy who turned things around. Or maybe Marco Luciano just had a good Fall League once. Or that you still need someone who can pitch 5 innings sometime.
To quote the Outlaw Josey Wales "don't piss down my back and tell me its raining". And a lot of--too many, in reality--really like your golden showers.

Don't act like I didn't warn you.

At least the radio broadcasts will be đŸ”„đŸ”„đŸ”„đŸ”„

Go Giants!
/fin
Addendum: I failed to mention Kapler, mainly because he's largely forgettable as a manager and should have never been hired to begin with, but Zaidi has already demonstrated a tremendous level of cronyism and ego, so this is who "we're" stuck with for now.
I'm by no means naive enough to believe that HOF managers like Bochy grow on trees, but it also goes to show you that its hilariously easy to hoodwink Hank and Baggs into thinking a third place in the division team is some kind of well-oiled machine
Oh, but hey you guys, Drew Smyly might come back! Really could use a starting pitcher with a career ERA around 4. Let's throw that parade down Market Street!
Let's see what else is annoying me...oh, how about Brandon Belt still finding a way to lead the team in OBP, SLG & OPS, despite the fact that every plate appearance he tries to draw a walk, literally every time he sits there hoping he can just look at ball four.
Giants were also the 2nd worst team in the NL in fielding pct., my heavens...this is getting Cohan era Warriors bad and no one seems to want to come to terms with it
Here is another Fun Fact: in 2010, the Giants lead the majors in team ERA with a collective 3.36.
In 2020, the Giants team ERA was 4.64.(This was below the league average FWIW)
I'm still on one rn, so I'll just rant about some of Zaidi's recent comments:

e.g.: if this was anything close to a full season, they aren't close to contending. Even with a shortened year & expanded postseason, they still finished 14 GB of 1st. How is that progress?
Like I've said, if the remains of Johnny Cueto, Kevin Gausman and Drew Smyly are the best hope you have in the rotation, you're not a contender. Sorry.
...on this I might grant the genius some leeway, especially since Trevor Gott couldn't get 3 outs and "sAm CoOnRoD iS mAgA"
