I get it, baseball is boring.
But also, fuck, I can’t express this enough, it’s everything.
Not sure why I’m doing this besides I love the Dodgers, but okay...

My mom (who’s in the hospital after a brain aneurysm right now) exposed me to baseball when I was 6.
She took me to games. I loved the LA Dodgers, she loved the SF Giants. She explained to me that I also had to love the Yankees. So I still do.

This proved to be super important for my mom and I.
We fought. Not like normal mom and kids. Like, I said horrible things, she said horrible things. It was rough.
But somehow baseball, even when we were opposed, brought us together.

We could be fighting and calling each other terrible names, and if the playoffs were on, we’d chill out and be good again.
And if our team won, life was good. It was legitimately important for us. I can recall at bats of specific Yankees during specific games rn.

Sports are lame as fuck. But also, I love them intensely.
If not for baseball, I wouldn’t be nearly as close to my mom and wouldn’t care so much about everything happening to her and wouldn't be so invested in her care now.
Sports are nothing. But sports are everything.
