Crash Bandicoot 4 livetweet thread? Crash Bandicoot 4 livetweet thread.
My current point of progress is after The Hazardous Wastes. So I'm still very early on.

As this is a livetweet thread, spoilers are inevitable. I will be tagging some big spoilery tweets with #Crash4Spoilers.

If you wish to go in blind, I suggest muting the hashtag.
Pain.
TAWNA TIME
Met Akano! #Crash4Spoilers
Interesting... looks like Crash Bandicoot: On the Run is being promoted in Crash 4 before it releases. The "Watch Trailer" button just plays the pre-existing trailer, if you're curious. Wonder what else this news page will be used for in the future?
Akano's ability is super cool
N. Verted Mode unlocked!

And that scene with N. Brio was... rather unpleasant. #Crash4Spoilers
Off Beat has to be my favorite level so far. So bouncy, energetic and fun. Feels like some crazy old cartoon. #Crash4Spoilers
Dingodile timelines unlocked! But how dare he SWEAR in this CHRISTIAN Crash Bandicoot server!? #Crash4Spoilers
Met Kupuna-Wa! Unfortunately, I missed the Flashback Tape in Run It Bayou, though. I did get the Yellow Gem, at least #Crash4Spoilers
Don't have much to say about The 11th Dimension. It's honestly quite forgettable, just felt like a generic snow area.

EXCEPT for the boss battle with Neo Cortex. That was such a great fight! It was difficult. 30+ deaths, my highest count so far, but still fun. #Crash4Spoilers
Cortex timelines unlocked! I think that's every timeline available now, so no more backtracking to previous areas just to play all of the timelines. #Crash4Spoilers
FEM TROPY!?!? #Crash4Spoilers
I can't believe Oxide is in this game! I never would have guessed he'd make an appearance in a mainline Crash game. #Crash4Spoilers
...Apparently Oxide has a wife. And he also apparently gets his kart stolen very frequently. #Crash4Spoilers
"Crash Landed?" Is that a reference to the canceled game? #Crash4Spoilers
OH MY GOD, THIS THING IS SO CUTE #Crash4Spoilers
Uh... is it normal for the music in Crash Landed to just... stop like that? Because it just stopped. Dead silence in background. Jesus, game, I know I'm not doing super well, but you don't have to insult me like that! #Crash4Spoilers
THEY REFERENCED THE MEME!!! #Crash4Spoilers
Cortex betrayed us and he's back to being the main antagonist. And that's all for tonight. Tomorrow, the (probably) final area, Cortex Castle! #Crash4Spoilers
Cortex is trying to go back in time to stop himself from creating Crash... things are getting crazy! #Crash4Spoilers
I think Cortex Island has my favorite N. Verted effect so far. Retro game style with bleeps, bloops and chiptunes to match! #Crash4Spoilers
Cortex Castle was such a great final level! It may have *gleefully* kicked my ass, but it was incredibly well-designed, and that bit where you swapped between the Quantum Masks constantly was an absolute blast! 50 deaths well spent. #Crash4Spoilers
Final boss time... let's GO! #Crash4Spoilers
About to land the final hit on Cortex...

And I thought that previous Cortex boss was good... this was brilliant! The way he used the Quantum Masks against you in similar ways you yourself used them throughout the game is a great and unexpected use of the concept. #Crash4Spoilers
A touching tribute to Mel Winkler, Aku-Aku's original voice actor, at the very end. May he rest in peace. #Crash4Spoiler
And that's a wrap on Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time! Soon, I'll post my opinions on the game, and that will end the livetweet thread. Stay tuned...! #Crash4Spoilers
So, what did your boy think of the game?

In short, I loved every second of it! It is an incredible game from beginning to end.
Quite the lengthy game, too - my playthrough took about 16 hours to finish, longer than all three games of the N. Sane Trilogy combined. Although I did do some extra stuff, including every timeline. So if you were worried that it'd be short despite being full price, there you go.
Let me talk about the presentation first. While I'd say the N. Sane Trilogy and Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled are better in terms of graphical fidelity, It's About Time has the better art style in my opinion. The character designs in this game are great. Staying true to...
...the original characters, but putting a unique spin on them to give them a fresh new look. Even the more drastic redesigns, like Tawna, are well-designed characters in their own right.

And damn, are they animated beautifully! So smooth, fluid and expressive.
Crash especially. Never has the dude been so full of life!

And the option to use skins is highly appreciated. I like dressing my characters up in costumes. I primarily used Bright Now for Crash and 360 Noscope for Coco, until the very end, where I equipped Warped Biker for both.
The music is also pretty good. Catchy tunes, decently memorable with distinctly Crash-like instruments. I liked how the music would change a bit in certain places, like when rail grinding.

My favorite songs were Hit the Road, Run It Bayou, Off Beat, Out for Launch and Food Run.
Now the gameplay...

It's everything I could have ever wanted from a modern Crash Bandicoot game.

The controls are smooth as butter. Every movement just feels right, with the perfect weight to how your character controls. It feels great to play.
The Quantum Masks are a welcome addition, adding unique and memorable segments to the levels. Lani is a simple but versatile world-switching idea, Akano is like the Death Tornado on steroids, Kupuna-Wa's time slowing mechanic is my favorite by far, and Ika-Ika manages to...
...do what I thought was impossible: make flipped gravity in a platformer fun.

Speaking of platforming, that's a good segue into speaking about the level design. It is a masterclass in 3D platforming design. Every stage is highly enjoyable, with precise platfoming in spades.
Every level feels unique. Introducing new obstacles and setpieces with every stage, the game does a great job keeping itself fresh throughout. And it does that WITHOUT shoving in a ton of vehicles nobody asked for like WARPED and especially The Wrath of Cortex, which is great!
It's pretty much all that great platforming we know and love from Crash. Only a few diversions here and there, like the Jet Board or Polar. No more strangely controlling flying segments, or clunky submarines, or frustrating bike races. They know what people want in a Crash game.
It's a hard game, but it is incredibly well-designed. Every level was a joy to play. This game's gonna kick your ass, but I'd be lying if I said it wasn't an enjoyable ass-whooping.

That last bit looks questionable... IT'S HARD, BUT IT'S GOOD. FORGET I WROTE THAT LAST BIT.
This may surprise people, but...

Crash Bandicoot 4 is, without a doubt, my favorite Crash Bandicoot game.

Seriously.

Better than Cortex Strikes Back. Better than Twinsanity.

It's just that damn good.
On the off-chance anyone from Toys for Bob that worked on this is reading this, I just want to say... thank you.

This is an incredible game, one I can seriously call a platforming masterpiece.

We've waited so long for a new Crash game, and we get rewarded with a game THIS good!
I had a blast playing through the game. It's a tough-as-nails, well-designed, beautiful platforming game. It's genuinely one of my new favorite games of all time, and one I see myself revisiting often.

It was worth the wait.

What a game.
TL;DR The new Crash Bandicoot game is super rad
And so, that ends my Crash Bandicoot 4 livetweet thread.

I had a great time livetweeting my time with this game! And I hope you had just as great of a time reading it.

I'd love to do this again sometime! Sackboy and Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 are games coming soon I'd love to livetweet
But if you're reading this... thank you.

You took the time out of your day to read me nerd out about Crash, and that means a lot to me,

I hope you enjoyed reading this thread. It's been such a blast!

Until next time...
