#CLST6 #Project2 It is the year 2100 and we do not know a lot about American society that collapsed in the 21st century. Archeologists thankfully are able to extract a lot of information simply from American cemeteries and funerary monuments, about the structure of society
After studying 31 different graves in an American college town funerary context I isolated six different traits. The traits Sex, Joined Graves, Dates, Polished or unpolished stone, and engraving help in determining socioeconomic status of those buried
The categories I chose relate to the socioeconomic and social structuring of America in the 21st century because joined graves and whether stones were polished or not give a hint as to the affluence of those buying the grounds. Also sex and dates tell us about social structure.
In this thread, I argue that by the numbers gender reveals a patriarchal society and joined graves and the contents of engravings show a medium to high socioeconomic background. Conclusions are noted to be coming from my portion of the cemetery only and thus are not general.
