if i don't do a thread of my top 40 favorite horror movies before Halloween I will die
40. Okay so Devil's Pass is not a good movie. But it's theory about what happened to the Dyatlov Pass hikers is so fucking bonkers the movie becomes amazing. Highly recommend if you want something dumb and fun with an insane twist ending.
39. Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula gets a little boring in parts but the incredible cast and gorgeous art/set/costume design make up for it
38. Goodnight Mommy is an incredible movie. The child actors crush it, the directing kicks ass, and the twist at the end is... so good.
37. Some might not count this as horror but it absolutely is to me. It's the single most dudes rock movie ever and it's just absolutely nuts
36. Crimson Peak is just a lot of fun. the poster makes it look ridiculously shitty but i swear its good hahha
35. fuck posters im switching to stills. The Autopsy of Jane Doe is fucking terrifying! really good movie
34. Okay i know it gets memed on now but The Babadook is a really good movie that has beautiful depth and some really great performances
33. Raw is an insane movie. it's all about cannibalism. but in an empowering way. i adore the poster.
32. If my mom refuses to watch it it counts as a horror movie! anyway this movie holds up! just hilarious
31. Hereditary is the only movie on this list i never want to see again. imo that makes it a less good horror movie but to others it might make it a perfect horror movie. If you haven't seen it i do recommend it... i think...
30. Now here's a fun movie. If you want to watch a horror movie/ music movie / action movie / fuck nazis movie then please watch Green Room.
29. I love horror that has a little fun. The Loved Ones is wildly campy and also very gory. It's good as hell
28. Ginger Snaps rules!! Kathryn Isabelle is a treasure and what she does in this movie is nuts. It's very similar to Jennifer's Body (which will appear on this list).
27. Hush is a great movie. Mike Flanagan is a really good director and he always gets amazing performances out of his wife Kate Siegel.
36. Do not ask me to tell you what happened in Mandy. I do not know. Demon biker gang, cheddar goblin, Nicholas Cage wielding a magic sword I think?? it owns
25. if you haven't seen Cabin in the Woods all I can say is: do not judge a book by its cover. This movie rules a ridiculous amount.
24. Lupita Nyong'o gives one of the most terrifying performances I've ever seen in Us. She deserved a nomination for Best Actress that year. There's a dark humor that underlays Jordan Peele's movies that just really works for me.
23. Texas Chainsaw Massacre has such a fucking good ending. I love this movie even if only two people actually die from Chainsaws in it
22. maybe more sci fi than horror but you watch the bear scene from this movie and you tell me that there's a god
21. Ready or Not kicks ass in a truly spectacular way. I laughed hysterically at the horrifying twist at the ending and that's what horror is all about.
20. What We Do in the Shadows is an incredible movie that spawned an incredible tv show. It's one of the best horror comedies ever made.
will finish tomorrow i want to go play Hades
