Students shouldn’t be having mental breakdowns over school but they never prioritize the mental health of us students (even if they claim they do) cause they believe we can come home after an exhausting day at school and do more schoolwork even with other factors overwhelming us
Some of us aren’t mentally ok in general, some of us have loved ones to take care of, some of us have jobs to do but schools never care. They pile us with work and expect us to do it all. I’ve lost so much sleep due to it. I’ve gone to school with 1-2 hours of sleep before
And with online school, it’s a lot harder to pay attention in class and to stay motivated. But it feels like we’re given more work then ever before and I can’t manage it at all. It’s frustrating. Not to mention that the fact that presentations cause a lot of stress/anxiety too.
PLUS even when I tell the school my problems, it feels like they never provide any help. I told my Pre-Calc teacher how I was dealing with some personal issues (had a mental breakdown last class) and couldn’t handle going into her class. She didn’t care whatsoever which is nice.
Also homework is awful because teachers teach you whatever for one class and expect you to be able to perform 20+ question worksheets perfectly. School is mentally exhausting and I’m just losing all motivation for it.
Oh also the fact that they pressure every single student into making them believe their grades define who they are and their lives doesn’t help relieve any stress from school in general so that’s great
It never feels like us students get a chance to relax and breathe. Especially high school students. When do we get the chance to be kids and make memories? Cause it feels like we barely ever get the chance to do so
In this current age we are living in, we need to realize that mental health is top priority over everything else. But by brushing it off and doing nothing about it, many students are left confused and frustrated with the school system as they show no care to us at all
Some of us don’t always have the best conditions at home so honestly, a place with other kids our ages should be a comfortable learning experience but it’s not. It’s constant stress/anxiety that’s too overwhelming at points. Schools need to wake up and take action.
Stop claiming you’re doing something when so many are left suffering in silence. Actually listen to the students and what they believe is best for their mental health. Don’t just continue to pile us with stress and act like everything is fine. Wake up and take real action
Let us breathe for once and stop blaming us for the problems you constantly bring to us. Our lives shouldn’t be defined by school constantly. Our mental health should be your top priority, not our damn work rate. Do something for us.
