Arkansas fans getting a lot of mileage on old Tweets about the Sam Pittman here. A few things worth mentioning/thinking about here:

1) Arkansas is undeniably playing good football right now, which is great to see. Pittman is pulling the right levers, they’re playing really hard and his staff (Odom especially) looks like it was put together very well! Congrats!

2) To the extent people trashed the hire, my sense is it was more about the situation than Pittman individually. Things looked *dire* 10 months ago. Really dire. There would have been lots of skepticism any of the people Arkansas could have hired would be able to turn it around

3) It is undeniably true that Arkansas had quite a long and comprehensive coaching search - and Pittman wasn’t involved in it until the end when a bunch of people bailed and he was the guy who wanted it. It is hard to attribute that to some stroke of genius by the school.

4) Coaching hires are weird and unpredictable and most of the commentary when it happens will turn out to be wrong, but it’s content that people want
