Parents of disabled kids,if you say, "I love my child but hate their diagnosis" you are saying you hate a part of your child's identity. You also speak volumes to the community your child belongs to. Your children are listening, they are forming their own identity. 1/3
If they are made to feel that their diagnosis is wrong, or bad, or something their own parents hate, imagine how that will affect them. 2/3
Your child's diagnosis does not define them, but you also cannot separate your child from their diagnosis, it will always be a part of who they are and nothing about them is to be "hated." 3/3
