when i was in grad school, i intentionally selected a thesis committee of all non-men, and got blessed with straight legends who poured and poured into me. this weekend, i got to make them (and my family) proud by presenting my work during a keynote address about abolition.
throughout college, i worked 3-4 jobs at a time, instructed countless classes, stayed active in movement work and wrote a whole thesis. i was the first in my family to graduate, which means i didn't know what the fuck i was doing the whole time.
i am DEDICATED to pouring into passionate young folks and HEARING and SEEING them - because that's what the best of my mentors have done for me. grateful.
