Some reminders to go along with this thread:
- In no way does having an open fetish for women with gargantuan dicks disqualify someone from being a dangerous transphobe, and frankly, to the contrary, the overlap between the two is large enough for that to be a red flag in itself. https://twitter.com/FreyjaErlings/status/1317775218518142976
- In this specific case, one does not need to rely solely on that fetish to work out if we're dealing with gross bigots, because a hell of a lot of people both creatively involved in this game and acting as the voice of the publisher have said and done really overtly anti-trans
things, up to and including crass jokes about trans women being murdered and parroting the only 2 jokes 4channers know.
- The company has the deepest possible ties to Gamergate, having happily hosted forums for them, engaged in multiple sponsorship deals with one of their leading
voices, and gleefully posted their slogans all over social media and their website including some pretty damn recent examples.
- Their other games have stirred up scandals that have since been memory holed about serious worker abuse (which applies here too by the way), misogyny,
and white supremacy (if you think back a few years, you may recall a popular RPG having this whole "there are no black people in the game because there were no black people in Europe in The Olden Days" BS going on).
- People have a weird compulsion to defend this company which is
usually based in them running a store that patches old DOS games so they will run, and attempt to rationalize that by pretending there is something very high and noble about "supporting DRM free purchases" which isn't so much on the company full of nazis as a moral failing, but
is just an astoundingly poor argument for financially supporting a morally indefensible company, both for the moral weakness of the argument, and for the fact that storefront based DRM is something people oppose because it is billed as a deterrent against piracy but really ties
the shopper to that particular storefront. If you actually care about the sentiment, you shouldn't be showing loyalty to any store, and if you want to possess DRM free copies of a game, the aforementioned pirates have your back, regardless of where or if you actually buy games.
- Literally every time I ever bring this up, some very indignant people show up to demand I provide links discussing this stuff and or the name of the specific nazi who has directly endangered my life that the company has been primarily tied to. Most of this information is VERY
easy to find from a cursory search, the rest is harder, BECAUSE THIS COMPANY HAS SUCH AN AWFUL HISTORY, and fresher/bigger scandals drown out the lesser known ones. And getting more specific than I am in this thread will activate some nazi term searches I don't want to deal with,
so regardless of who you are, I will be blocking anyone attempting to respond to this thread with any followup questions.
- It's still bad to play the gross transphobic nazi game even if you get a free copy, and also to say nice or even neutral things about it. I will judge you.
