I want you guys to understand how dangerous this narrative is. He is accusing peaceful protesters of treason. He’s not speaking as an independent individual; he is speaking as a friend of “power” and the police who has access to vital information that we don’t. THREAD. #EndSARS

Many of us have been calling this guy out for months for his shady ways but everyone saw us as the enemy because he was their beloved messiah. But that is the problem. You’ve given him so much power and credibility for “saving” you. It is and has always been a dangerous route.

We didn’t ask ourselves vital questions because we were obsessed with a hero whose heroism thrives on dysfunction that he has for the past 3 years made no attempt to cure. Messiahs only thrive where there is need for saving. And that is what he wants; to remain your saviour.

We are reluctant to accept that people can be good, yes, but for different reasons. People can be good to you for their own personal interests, so someone saving you does not mean that he’s a good person if he’s doing it to gain social capital for his own political ambition.

Here are a few things that we need to know:

1. S*ga did not start #EndSARS . The actual person who started the movement was an influencer here who had to delete the thread because of the threats he received and never cared for credit because he believed that it is a movement that belongs to all Nigerians. S*ga hijacked it.

2. #EndSARS literally means END SARS. End it. Put it to an end. That was the intention of the originator. #EndSARS does not mean “release unlawfully detained citizens.” How has he attempted to end SARS in the past 3 years beyond securing the release of police-harassed Nigerians?

2b. Answer: he hasn’t. It all ends in releasing people from the police cell for his own PR purposes because he’s a politician who wants to exploit your suffering to plant himself as a saviour who you in turn honour with massive credibility until he Oshiomolises you.

2c. Releasing people from police net and allowing the same rogue police officers to go back to the streets to harass and brutalise more people achieves absolutely nothing. It only creates more victims because justice was not served. Uncured, it only becomes a chronic problem.

2c+. Activism is about pushing for social and political change. Releasing people from detention is not activism. It is charity and charity is not synonymous to activism.

2c++. Nothing you’re doing is activism if your major/only focus is on saving people from the system and not curing the system that makes them sick in the first place. You’re only proving that you are okay with dysfunction because where there is no dysfunction, you lose relevance.

3. What he is doing now has played out before during the Dbanj/Seyitan saga. Those of us who worked behind the scenes saw him in his full regalia with no masks on, but like they say, “Twitter is not real life,” so people fell for his plot even though the truth was in their faces.

3b. Today, he is smiling like a beauty queen in pictures with Dbanj & the IG while protesters lose their lives. He is showing you who he stands for but you are hesitant to believe what you’re seeing bc he’s gotten you; he’s the hero you worship & you can’t accept his unraveling.

3b+. The Kemi Olunloyo who worked with him to turn you against Seyitan is now fully out as a pro-police monster and you still can’t connect the dots? What’s not clicking? Is it really that hard to see?

3b++. The tactics are the same: Invalidate the fight of every other person if you aren’t the saviour they run to. You are the only saviour with good intentions. He did it to STER. He is doing it to @feminist_co now and to all protesters becos he was not allowed leadership/saving.

3b+++. Call them outrageous names to incite the public against them. First, it was “feminist coven” and “witches.”

Today, it is “cultists,” “rude and intolerant” “kids”, and latest, “arrow heads.”

3b++++. He is playing on your intelligence because he thinks/knows he has greater credibility and cult following, and that people are likely to fall for his tricks.

3b+++++. His verbose and ambiguous language is very intentional. He is a master manipulator who uses every tool at will including his diction to gaslight and maneuver people into doubting reality even though he’s said a bunch of incoherent nothings. Fall for it, your loss.

4. S*ga is not a lawyer. How come he has a lot of connections to these dangerous & murderous police chiefs and is able to secure the release of detainees under a few mins/hrs meanwhile actual lawyers like Tola and co. have to go through a tough process to get protesters released?

4+. It is because he is part of the inner caucus. Until their fallout, he worked very closely with Dambazau and built his own social and political climbing. He is an adviser to the police, for the police, and not for you. He has his own personal agenda.

4++. Throughout these protests, he has shown the police way more support than he has shown you and that is enough reason to question every single motive he has. But will you, though?

4+++. First, he calls us “cultists” and hints at us being enemies of the “state.” The next day, thugs were sent to disrupt the protests.

Second, he tweets about Coronavirus spikes, then the Nigerian govt bans protests in Abuja to supposedly prevent Coronavirus spikes.

4++++. Third, he casts aspersions on the donations/funding for the protests which ‘coincides’ with the girl who came to Lekki Toll to call out @feminist_co’s spending (she came with multiple security detail btw) and the government starts restricting accounts tied to the protests.

The dots are all there. We don’t know what his/their next plan will be but we have to be prepared. With his most recent tweets, he is signalling that things are about to get more heated for us but we are not going to back down. We don’t need his approval to continue our fight.

This should teach us a lesson on hero worship. We don’t need individual saviours; we need functional institutions so that we will have no need for saving. We don’t need heroes; we need fighters and the job of a fighter is to conquer the system and not to save you from it.
