Fun fact: after preaching, many pastors experience what I like to call “post-sermon blues.”

After the adrenaline rush from preaching wears off...you’re not sure what to do with yourself.

You feel bummed. Sermon could have been better.

And you are super sleepy.
Which is why our preaching must be about the text.

If you explained the text, made Jesus big, and preached the gospel...it was a good sermon. Delivery could always be better. But delivery is not what makes a sermon good.
The sleepy and “bummed” feelings ought to remind us (me) of our inadequacies and the inability to accomplish anything with our preaching. Jesus does all the heavy lifting.
