it's soup season, so i am opening a thread here for you to make an argument for what you think is the best soup. please, be bold. be confident in your thinking.
ok i'll say it: cream of tomato is the best soup. i will take it ANY day over soup with chunks in it. i'm expecting to get blowback for this.
also: french onion is UP there. is it just onions? yes! but it earns its keep
as for soups that serve as an actual meal...i'm HERE for italian wedding
(the secret is, like dogs, all soups are beautiful; i'm just here to cause trouble)
the truly shocking data so far is how many people's favorite soup is "loaded baked potato"
dammit i forgot about borscht; my grandmother is upset from the beyond
the lack of mention of bread bowls....you love to see it (bread bowls are cursed objects)
my actual favorite soup is posole (i'm from albuquerque, my mom makes it every winter with green chile, i love it very much); the truth is i can't pick, soups are like children
this is all getting quite philosophical: people asking...is chili a soup? is a chowder a soup? could a curry technically be a soup? i don't have the answers! i just live for the questions.
