Sorkin's Abbie Hoffman testimony: "I love the system, we just need rulers with good intentions. Like in the West Wing."

Actual Hoffman defense testimony: "FUCK THE DEMOCRATS, SMASH THE SYSTEM, END THE WAR, OFF THE PIGS, BLACK LIBERATION, ABOLISH MONEY, REVOLUTION NOW, YIPPIE!"
Sorkin also had the audacity to turn the government prosecutor into a well-intentioned good guy when he was an idealogue who despised the left. This change is made because Sorkin cannot grasp the idea that people in power are actually cruel and ignorant.
The reason it's impossible for Aaron Sorkin to make a good Chicago 7 movie is that the worldview of the Chicago 7 defendants poses a fundamental challenge to everything Sorkin believes, yet they were clearly in the right. So he has to construct an absurd lie to save his ideology.
