We were listening to WNYC/NPR this morning, right? And they had a roundtable of white women across the U.S. political spectrum talking about whether they support Biden or Trump.
There was this one white woman speaking (and you know the tenor/energy: nasal voice laced with a frightening calm (hiding the thorns and needles), a piercing arrogance, a cruel piety...
...and an unearned righteousness that feigns sincerity by always sounding as though it’s on the verge of tears; you know, giving very Meghan McCain) who said she was voting for Trump.
Every time someone pointed out a flaw about Trump, she provided a well-worn defense. So many people are dead from COVID-19 because of Trump? That’s okay. "Individual Liberty" allows for the right to die because having to wear masks is “unconstitutional”...
...and families should be able to decide for themselves which of their members live or die from the illness, and which of their neighbors should be sacrificed as a result of their communicable callousness because that’s what White Jeebus wants.
Even though he’s ruined every business he ever ran and is faking billionaire status, she feels that America is a business (not a democracy, not a republic, not a country, not a nation, but a business)...
...and should be run by a white Christian cisgender heterosexual wealthy businessMAN, somebody allegedly like Trump.
Most important to her was that, even though he’s broken about every law in the country, she perceives Trump as the “law-and-order” president and that he occupies the role of “protector” (that is *inseparable* from toxic masculinity, but no one wants to hear that shit)...
...that patriarchy promised her in exchange for her submission, secondariness, and lower salary, and acts as a barrier between her and the undesirables she deems beneath her, but that also give her identity shape and definition.
I used to think of white women as natural accomplices because institutionalized misogyny gave us a common cause to battle.
But what I’ve learned about white women--not *just* white women, but people in general--is that where a privileged identity intersects with a marginalized one, we will use the marginalized one to mask the privileged one and claim to be morally unassailable and beyond reproach.
This, I discovered, is how the majority of white women voters voted for someone who would sooner r*pe them (and has!) than respect them, but still claim "virtue."

We need to give these white women more credit.
More than handmaidens for patriarchy, they are generals for it, drafting policies social, cultural and political; wielding sway over the patriarchs with their superior intellect and intuition...
...providing them with some of the deadly ideas and ideals the patriarchs themselves often aren’t cunning enough to come up with, but are, indeed, insecure enough to take credit for.
That dainty, damsel-in-distress, I-do-declare, handkerchief-waving, I-believe-I-caught-the-vapors, soccer-mom, Penelope-Pitstop-help-help, I’m-the-perfect-victim vulnerability shit is nothing but an act designed to make them appear innocent while they’re strategizing genocide.
This applies not just to white women, but to everyone: Beware of people claiming purity; they’re usually sweeping their dirt under the rug.
Beware of people always implicating others, but only ever absolving themselves; they do harm and purposely don’t recognize it as such so that they can continue doing it guilt-free.

History has provided ample evidence.
