Archie Shadow took a lot of pages from 06 and SA2 and it showed, i think he felt charismatic and grounded, he could still be stubborn but was fairly mature too and acted less like a rebellious teen, with a decisionmaking process that was more about pragmaticism than his ego

if you're a Shadow stan i totally get you being upset with his depiction in this run, especially because imo every other character, from Gemerl and Cream to Rouge and Silver - has been handled fantastically in comparison
