Thought I'd share a drawing project to digitally illustrate the crash helmets of Jenson Button from 2000-2020 with a thread.

Starting with his Bell K1 helmets from his debut #F1 season at Williams. The Union Jack livery was carried over from karting and F3.

@JensonButton
The move to Benetton / Renault for 2001-02 only really added a blue halo.
BAR Honda in 2003.
2004 saw a change of helmet, to the short-lived Bell HP1.

The British GP was also the first of many 'special' designs, with a flag of St. George replacing the usual Union Jack.
2005 was largely unchanged.
The Bell HP3 helmet was in use by the start of 2006, and the St. George's design made a comeback to support the England football team during that summer's FIFA World Cup.
2007 started off with a very smart black and white design during pre-season testing that was paired with a black test car.

The helmet livery reverted to the traditional colours once the "Earth car" colour scheme had been revealed.
The standard helmet design from 2007 was carried over into 2008 unchanged.

A fan-designed special livery was raced at Silverstone, and towards the end of the season a simplified version was used, dropping the shading and gradients and switching to brighter neon colours.
The pre-season tests of 2009 were the only time the red, white and blue colours were used in the Brawn car.

At the first race, the now iconic yellow version made its debut.
The 'Push the Button' design worn at Silverstone was the winning entry in another fan design contest.

The yellow design was updated with a black crown from Silverstone onwards, to accommodate the addition of sponsorship from Monster Energy.
The Monster partnership culminated in a matt black design that was only worn at the 2009 'Race of Champions', held at the Beijing National Stadium in China.
Red, white and blue returned for Jenson's debut season at McLaren in 2010.

The Canadian GP of that year saw a change of helmet supplier, switching to the Arai GP7.

At the following race in Valencia, a new livery from UffeDesigns was debuted.
The 'Ichiban' motif was added at the back of the helmet in 2011, and Jenson carried a message of support for Japan all year long.

Special Japanese-themed designs were raced at Monaco and again for his impressive victory at Suzuka.
2012 was largely unchanged, but once again the Japanese GP was contested with a silver helmet, updated to add dragon artwork to the top that was repeated lower down.
2013 likewise saw minimal changes.

That year's Japanese GP saw yet more updates to the silver design, with an image of sumo wrestlers adorning the top.
2014 saw lots of alterations of the design. Most notable was the inclusion of the Papa Smurf avatar.

Drivers were also mandated to carry their race number on their crash helmets, so the #22 was added on the crown.

A black Johnnie Walker halo was used from Monaco onwards.
The Pink for Papa colours debuted at the 2014 British GP, and were retained until the end of that season.

Another Japanese GP special was raced at Suzuka, and towards the end of the year the Johnnie Walker halo was replaced with Mobil 1 sponsorship.
Helmet livery changes were restricted for 2015, so the McLaren Honda partnership was marked with a red livery that was retained for the whole season.
Jenson's final full season in F1 was contested with his traditional colours.

His last race, at the Abu Dhabi GP, was marked with a throwback to the Brawn GP colours from his championship-winning season.
2017 saw an unexpected return to F1 competition at the Monaco GP.

Later that year, the silver Japanese-themed design was used once again for his debut in the Super GT series, when he contested the Suzuka 1000kms in the Motul Mugen NSX-GT.
Another championship winning year in 2018, clinching the Super GT title in his first full season. A nice update to the design, with polygon patterns adding some interest.
A second and final year competing in Super GT, and the 10th anniversary of his F1 championship was marked with the revival of the Brawn GP colours.
And finally, a totally new and very bold look for 2020.
