1. Western conservation rests on white liberal logics of turning animals/lands/waters/atmospheres into units to be managed, without agency. Indigenous relationality, broadly, across many cosmologies, acknowledges more-than-human beings with political agency, social organization.

2. Western conservation folds all of existence into a singular/universal white supremacist, colonial capitalist legal-ethical paradigm (an oxymoron). It is an extension of the possessive logics (see Aileen Moreton-Robinson) that underpin dispossession, genocide across continents.

3. When folks say that their ‘concern’ about lobster season in Nova Scotia is about conservation, they mean: they believe the only legitimate way of relating to animals is through a white supremacist, colonial capitalist universal ontology of possession, displacement, genocide.
