Trans visibility in the fashion industry isn't everything, it doesn't keep us physically safe and the glamour aspect isn't always a true reflection of the lived reality of every trans person.
But visibility does help to reduce the isolation that is upheld when we can't see people like ourselves included, celebrated or succeeding.
Transgender representation in the media puts a human face and voice to what many people would otherwise only hear of as 'an issue', 'an ideology', 'a debate', 'a row', 'a concern' or 'a culture war'.
It allows the many people who have never knowingly met a trans person, to hear about us from us, rather than from cisgender journalists who often hold bias or prejudice against us.
We are living, breathing HUMAN BEINGS, with dreams and talents and it's WAY overdue that we got our flowers and recognition within the industry and society at large.
The more we raise our voices, the more we share our stories, the more we can help to inspire future generations of trans folk, who can only raise the bar even higher, just like we have after our elders.

Proud to live in this time. Proud to be part of the change.
