A thread of Soviet architecture inspired by the outer space.
The Soviet Union is widely known for its brutalist architecture. However, some of you may not know that a big part of these unique buildings were inspired by astronomy, cosmonautics and other elements related to cosmos.
The influence of Soviet cosmism on its architecture can be seen in the buildings' shapes, which often imitate UFOs, spaceships, space stations, planetscapes, meteorites, futuristic space colonies, etc.
For some, these buildings made out of concrete, metal and glass look quite frivolous, and they try to equate this feeling to socialism. However, this assumption is senseless since brutalism originated in capitalist Great Britain in the 1950's and was later adopted by the Soviets.
