work is not inherently moral or dignified but it's presented this way to promote the idea that work itself is righteous, contrasting pro-labor and lifestyle wants (like a 4 day work week or something) as lazy/immoral/undignified
there's nothing wrong w/wanting to work less and it should absolutely be a priority to figure out how to improve the lives of people so that work hours can be reduced while maintaining the same level of income. we get 75 years or so on this earth and waste so much of it at work
for some people work is very important, they find meaning and purpose in it. for most it's just a way to pay the bills. pretending it's anything more than that for the vast majority of people is meant to instill a norm of shaming the idea of accumulating more time for yourself
