5 HARSH LESSONS I LEARNED AS A BOOK HOARDER...
1) Books have expiration dates. I mean, the interest that we have with the book could fade. And when we told ourself that we will read this book someday might never happened. My example for this are the books I already unhauled...
I thought it will be fun to read them during the time I saw and purchase them. But I got bored after reading the very first few pages.
2) Supporting all the works of an author is not always possible. I tend to buy two or more books by the same author that I heard was good, only to find out that one work is different from the other. Not all writers are consistent in their writing style...
Sometimes a writer will only manage to create one popular book and the rest will never make it to the best selling list and will never be reprinted.
3) Book series requires a lot of money. It's an investment. Which is why I prefer stand-alone books or duology. Or trilogy. Not only they are easier to collect. It will also give me more opportunity to discover other authors or genres and not just read a long series...
A lot of book series also seemed stretch out that it should have ended in just one book or ends at page 400.
4) Packaging is misleading. Yup, we all know that book covers are becoming good and it's printed with a nice texture or even in gold ink. Wow. But let's not forget that we cannot really judge a book by its cover. It's the content or the inside that matters.
5) Waiting is now a must. I am not into new released books. But I noticed that a lot of interesting titles are being published these days. Influencers were also paid to promote them so it gives the impression that a book is a must read...
However, I must resist the temptation of buying the new released ASAP. Not only should I wait for a used copy to be sold somewhere, I also needed to check first if it's really worth every penny. (END OF THREAD)
