High Fashion accounts and the overly edited pictures of media figures.

This is a thread Iāve been wanting to do for quite sometime as it is an issue I often see in the hf community both on twitter and Instagram. https://twitter.com/hecvte/status/1260014039385534465
Editing accounts are now taking pictures of celebrities and distorting them to warped versions of themselves to the point where we do not even recognize the person we are looking at. https://twitter.com/hecvte/status/1304886428426412032
They often erase all texture, wrinkles or any imperfections that wouldnāt fit their aesthetic. This is a thread meant to show you pictures of celebrities and their edited versions to see how drastic the photoshop gets.
This thread aims to show you that beauty is attainable. The power of photoshop is scary and disturbing to the viewer no matter how mentally strong they might be. Beauty standards prey on insecurity and creating the āperfectā face that is impossible to replicate in real life.
Surgery only goes so far and it is evident how even with all the money that goes into surgery you can still be dissatisfied with your appearance.
Social media created an atmosphere that feeds upon insecurities and I would hate for anyone to look at these pictures and think that that is the epitome of beauty.
The celebrities used will be edited to current beauty standards,
The celebrities used will be edited to current beauty standards,
Also normalizing editing accounts *cough* divine_women *cough* is honestly one of the most negative thing on social media in terms of aiding in causing more harm than good in terms of self esteem as well as body image.
Beauty standards are designed to create clones and erase any sign of individuality that a person has.
But whatās disturbing is editing poc features on white women while editing poc to be white
Here is how editing can change a person
(Some are by me, some are from editing pages)

There are obviously much more posts out there dedicated to this type of content.
Now what is the point of this thread?
Beauty in the media has become a very hot topic. Suddenly we are bombarded by ads that show us how to get the perfect face, body etc

The āInstagram faceā as it has been called by Jia Tolentino creates a single and uniform type of face that is considered the norm on social media and having a face that is different than that is considered strange or even downright unattractive.
Now why is looking ethnically ambiguous such a bad thing?
Take into consideration the political climate of this current age and look towards movements such as blm that fight for the lives of black people. A white woman will obviously be treated very differently than
Take into consideration the political climate of this current age and look towards movements such as blm that fight for the lives of black people. A white woman will obviously be treated very differently than
a black woman. The white woman can get away with tanning her skin, plumping up her lips to emulate features of a black woman yet never go through the same level of harassment that a black woman goes through every single day.
A white woman can also choose to do a fox eye surgery or makeup look whereas an Asian woman would get mocked for having that eye shape.
You will never look like an Instagram girl because Instagram girls DO NOT look like themselves! With the rise of such accounts even photoshopping celebrities (that we consider perfect) to the point where they arenāt even recognizable creates a deep
Sense of insecurity within the consumer that is constantly bombarded with images of false perfection.
Beauty standards are set to make you feel bad. They donāt want you to feel good about yourself because they do not benefit from that.

Another great post you should look into, the original pictures are posted below so you can tell how much editing went into this to the point where Rachel doesnāt even look human. https://twitter.com/thegirlinlust/status/1317797429585084417

Mini thread by @LAVIDAPRADA ! She touches on a Transformation post that shows edited pictures of celebrities gaining weight with most of the comments being very disrespectful. https://twitter.com/lavidaprada/status/1317912805325025280
