When someone sitting in DC tries to portray the Karabakh conflict as some grand Russian-Iranian stratagem, arguing that it& #39;s important for US to align with two dictators to counter them, it& #39;s a safe sign they know nothing about the conflict and can be ignored. https://twitter.com/Doranimated/status/1317592600426237955">https://twitter.com/Doranimat...
It& #39;s the same school of garbage analysis that produces takes like this. It& #39;s starting with a political goal in mind and then trying to align facts that fit this narrative - the exact opposite of what analysis should be. https://warontherocks.com/2020/06/irans-latest-misadventure-destabilizes-the-caucasus/">https://warontherocks.com/2020/06/i...
The Iran angle in particular is glaring. Iran has almost nothing to do with this conflict. It has fairly good relations with Armenia, and has a large ethnic Azerbaijani population. That& #39;s it. It could conceivably play a much larger role at some point - but so far, it doesn& #39;t.
And finally, the idea that a landlocked country of 3 million people, with 80% of its borders closed and at odds with its 95 million total population neighbours, could pose some massive threat to regional security should not leave your mouth unless you& #39;re a Turkish or Az official.
