disclaimer: with this thread I’m not trying to say that gryffindor is the best house or anything like that, I’m just trying to appreciate the house because it deserves it!!

Gryffindor is one of the four Houses of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

The emblematic animal is a lion, and the house colours are scarlet and gold.

Gryffindor corresponds to the element of fire, and it is for this reason that the colours scarlet and gold were chosen to represent the house. The colour of fire corresponds to that of a lion as well, with scarlet representing the mane and tail and gold representing the coat.

The Gryffindor Common Room is located in one of the castle's towers, the entrance to which is located on the seventh floor and is guarded by an oil painting of the 𝑭𝒂𝒕 𝑳𝒂𝒅𝒚.

Behind her painting is a large common room, with a fireplace, and two staircases leading up to the girls' and boys' dormitories.

The common room is very comfortable, and members of the Gryffindor house meet there for study groups, celebrations, or relaxation. The walls are lined with portraits, each one depicting a previous or current Head of Gryffindor.

The Gryffindor house emphasises the traits of courage as well as "daring, nerve, and chivalry," and its members are generally regarded as brave, though sometimes to the point of recklessness.

Some Gryffindors have also been noted to be short-tempered. According to Phineas Nigellus Black, members of other houses sometimes feel that Gryffindors engage in "pointless heroics."

Gryffindors tend to be natural-born leaders with good reason. Action-oriented, assertive, confident, decisive, determined, disciplined, pragmatic, proactive, productive, responsible, and task-dominant.

You want to be around Gryffindors because above all, they aren’t afraid to be themselves. Even if they can get a little spooked trying to ask you to the Yule Ball, their bravery makes Hogwarts, and the world, a better place.

Gryffindor House has created a lot of the most famous wizards and witches of the wizarding world. Some known Gryffindors:

𝑨𝒍𝒃𝒖𝒔 𝑫𝒖𝒎𝒃𝒍𝒆𝒅𝒐𝒓𝒆, winner of the Order of Merlin for his duel with Gellert Grindelwald in 1945, headmaster of Hogwarts and founder of the order of the phoenix. Killed on by Severus Snape in the Battle of the Astronomy Tower.

𝑯𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒚 𝑷𝒐𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓, “the chosen one”. He defeated Lord Voldemort in the Battle of Hogwarts and was the Master of Death. He became head of the Auror Office and Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement from 2019 onwards.
