A reminder that the NHS app data is anonymous and can't be shared with the police. Please don't uninstall it. https://twitter.com/NHSCOVID19app/status/1317749191775584256
To explain this further: the data generated in the app is anonymous, and stays on your phone unless you choose to upload that you've had a positive test. If you do that, the app uploads an anonymous token that can't be traced back to you.
I'll also note that there have been mutterings that we're not as good as South Korea at tracking and testing. Here's how South Korea does it, and this would absolutely not be tolerated here.
Sharing this not to mock the person who sent it, but to note that the paranoid and largely hopelessly inaccurate narratives about Palantir/Cummings etc have caused an enormous amount of harm. They have undermined trust in this important app and honestly, I despair.
And once more: the app is nothing to do with Serco/Palantir/Dominic Cummings/Cthulhu/the Grinch Who Stole Christmas. It's built by NHSX, it's open-source and clearly documented. It's safe to use.
