This is a superthread of material related to the project I call an atheology of love, a moral and spiritual philosophy I'm developing around the idea that love can function as a source of subjective meaning and value on premises of atheism, naturalism, and moral error theory.
It consists firstly of an abandoned YouTube script that I'll divide into sections to post as threads, secondly of my old pinned thread about what I call now recursion or lineages of care, and thirdly of miscellaneous relevant threads I have bookmarked.
The abandoned YT script was meant as a public outline of the atheology, but it was poorly written due to constraints I placed on myself of short statements and non-technical language, and poor planning. I'm currently outlining one that I think will be better.
The recursion of care thread can be read as picking up where the abandoned YT script leaves off. It was written in a hurry and very roughly, and is only meant to give some idea of how my concept of love grounds my social philosophy.
This is the first section of the abandoned YouTube script, in which I introduce a concept of philosophical pessimism. https://twitter.com/TheOutsiderHum1/status/1317724631638237184?s=20
This is the second section, in which I go into the existential problems around philosophical pessimism, and sketch some psychological concepts the atheology is premised on. https://twitter.com/TheOutsiderHum1/status/1317727657983766528?s=20
This is the third section, in which I introduce my concept of love and argue that it can function as a solution to the problems of pessimism. https://twitter.com/TheOutsiderHum1/status/1317730937447227394?s=20
This is the fourth and final section, in which I address challenges that love faces in doing its good work, and very briefly sketch a practice of opening my mind and life to it. https://twitter.com/TheOutsiderHum1/status/1317733614373597184?s=20
The preceding unfinished document is currently the best synopsis I have of the atheology of love up to the point where it leaves off. From there what I have are scattered notes and tweets, but this thread gives an idea of where it would've gone. https://twitter.com/TheOutsiderHum1/status/1245027027754737667?s=20
In this thread I go into some detail about my concept of flourishing. https://twitter.com/TheOutsiderHum1/status/1287445226483847168?s=20
