i swear there is nothing more colourful on the planet than a desi festival. whether it's eid, holi, diwali, pohela boishakh, you've never seen anything more beautiful

and the weddings? are a festival of their own. you haven't lived till you've danced to bollywood all night at your uncle's wedding

speaking of bollywood, i don't CARE how much of a meme it is to you right now. bollywood movies are some of the most heart-touching, funny, beautiful, artistically pieces of done work i have ever seen, and my entire childhood was built around them

bollywood music deserves it's own category because most of the time it is a soundtrack for a movie. and by god, bollywood songs are some of the most nostalgic, beautiful, amazing songs i've ever heard. i can guarantee every desi in the world knows the words deewangi deewangi

and south asians? we're not all indian. we're not all "brown". we're indian, bangladeshi, pakistani, sri lankan, afghani, bhutanese, nepali, maldivian, we're DESI.

i'm proud of my culture, and i hope this thread helped you see past the stereotypes and jokes placed on us. desi culture is unique. desi culture is unique. i love desi culture.
