Got my Oregon ballot! Will now sit down and read thru the voter information pamphlet this weekend, discuss the options at the local level w/the fam, take my time and double-check all the instructions, use the security sleeve, seal it up, sign it, and TURN IT IN. Some tips...
If you are new to mail-in ballots, PLEASE READ AND FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS. You don’t want your vote thrown out because of a “naked ballot” or missing signature on the envelope or some such nonsense.
Also, turn in your ballot in the most secure way you can, while still following official instructions. Oregon has permanent drop boxes for ballots, and I’ll be using one of those this year instead of USPS, to help ensure it gets there in plenty of time.
If your state has voter notifications, sign up. Here in Multnomah County, you can get text notifications that tell you when your ballot was mailed to you, when your completed ballot was received, and when your vote was actually counted. It’s awesome!
If text notifications, permanent drop boxes, & 100% mail-in voting sound awesome, lobby for them in your state. Your Secretary of State & state legislature can make those changes, but will need to be shown that there is broad bipartisan support for them among voters.
