Since 1995, the world has become a better & safer place for women in the following ways:

1️⃣ 25% more women in governance. Evidence has shown that this also contributes to more policies that benefit women, children & families in general.

(2/5)
2️⃣ More countries have laws & legislation that support gender equality & specifically address women’s & girls’ rights.

3️⃣ 79 million more girls are in school today. Developing regions in the world have, or have almost, achieved gender parity in primary education.

(3/5)
4️⃣ Global maternal mortality rates fell by 38% between 2000 – 2017.

5️⃣ Globally, child marriage has declined from 1 in 4 to I in 5 girls.
However, despite these gains for women & girls, no country has achieved gender equality or even close.

(4/5)
This ranges from COVID-19 causing major setbacks, not enough women in leadership, the rates of gender-based violence against women & girls, etc.

It brings to the question “Can we truly achieve gender equality by 2030?”
