hello friends i am back again to gush abt my literature& painting class today. i'll do it like my prof did it, come along with me for 2 mins pls!! ok so look at this painting. what is it? i'll help, it's called Svanen, or "The Swan" (No. 17) by Hilma af Klint. (open the replies)
ok maybe that didn't make too much sense. look at this one then, it's also my the same artist and it's also called Svanen. what does this one convey? unity? becoming one in love? birds getting freaky? two halves of the self? ok go to the next twt in this thread it blew my mind.
now look!! this is straight from my class notes haha i've drawn the lines to show the parts which connect. and the explanation is there too, you can read it! so you see, the abstract form conveys that message much more powerfully. there are several realistic paintings of swans-
-but the artist's goal was to convey something else, which they achieved through the abstraction. the swan collection is really cool btw, i've been going through it on my own. in alchemy, swans symbolise the union of opposites required for the creation of the philosopher’s stone!
hehe thanks for listening (and seeing!!) i just like to yell about cool things i learn immediately to someone else and there aren't ppl i know in real life whom i can bother with this rn at least lol
