19 year old Leg spinner @anilkumble1074 was selected for the tour of Eng. He debut in the 2nd test at Manchester. However, average outing (3-170 runs) meant he was soon dropped from the side for the next 2 years.

26th Nov 1992:
22-year old leggie was called back into the team after he picked up 13 wickets in the Irani Trophy against Delhi while playing for ROI. He hit the bulls eye this time as he picks up 6-53 in the 2nd inngs of the 2nd test in Johannesburg. Overall 18 wkts..

..at an avg of 25. He continued his prime form when England toured India later in the year. Picked up 21 wickets at an avg of 19.8
On 13th Mar 1993, Kumble became the fastest Indian bowler to reach 50 wickets by dismissing Campbell (Zim) in his 10th test match.

18th Oct 1995:
25 year old Kumble was already a household name in Indian cricket history. On this day, he became the 2nd fastest in Indian cricket history to reach 100 wicket mark in only his 21st test match. He was only behind Prasanna. He achieved this feet against NZ..

while playing in his home ground and a day after his 25th birthday. His 100th scalp was none other than Martin Crowe. He had also taken 6 5fers in the 21 test matches he had played. Again 3 yrs later 10 days before his bday, Kumble took his 200th scalp by dismissing @mmbangwa

In these 3 years (18 Oct 1995-07 Oct 1998), Kumble was also India's best in ODIs. He was the highest wicket taker in the 1996 world cup as he picked 15 wkts at an avg of 18.7, He was also highest wkt taker in the yr 1996 (61 wickets in Odis at an avg 21, overall 90 wkts)

He was also good with the bat in this period as he was instrumental in helping India win the Titan Cup in '96 by stitching a match winning 52 run 9th wkt partnership with Srinath. He was also leading wkt taker for Ind in WI & Aus, & was named Wisden cricketer of the year in'96.

In the year 2004, Kumble (age 33) became the 3rd spinner to take 400 test wickets. Can you guess the month and the stadium??? Yes, October. Yes, Chinnaswamy again. The batter he dismissed was #Katich .

However, the moment that defines Kumble the person came in 2002 Antigua when Kumble had bowled with a broken jaw to dismiss WI's best batsmen Lara. The act showed his love, determination to play cricket for the nation. This incident was cited recently by PM Modi as well.

On 16th Jan 2008, Kumble (at age 37) became the 1st Indian player & 3rd spinner in the world to take 600 wickets. In the process, he became India's 1st capt to win a test match at WACA. He hanged his boots on 29th Oct 2008 at 619 wickets at an avg of 29.

Before completing his 18 yrs of career though he became the only player to score a 100 as well as take 10 wkts in an inngs when he scored 118 vs Eng at Oval. Kumble bowled 40850 balls in his test career (only behind Murali's 44039 balls) & overall 55346 balls (Murali 63132)

..to take 956 Intl wickets (only Murali has taken more wickets 1347). On June 2016, Kumble was appointed as a coach for the Indian team where he served the tenure for 1 year. He is currently the head coach of @lionsdenkxip team.
