there is no good outcome here, no harmless intervention, but the lack of honesty, expressed uncertainty, attempts to reduce uncertainty, ego, belief in failing private sector, brexit, failure to consider quality of life and death...is leading to more avoidable harm...
can't help but feel the press misinformation that GPs are not open is planned, strategic (and wrong), is pushing to lead to permanent change (despite future uncertainty) with larger, centralised, remote, digital, non-medically-led providers. but of course
inside the NHS so many brilliant folk are tired, working over normal duties, taking on more risk than usual, often grieving, looking after others, it's stressful, the clapping is well over, 'be kind' seems to have evaporated, people have lived their last months in isolation,
it feels like am practicing medicine in monochome just now; I miss seeing patients face to face as default. work is oddly lonely. but we are still working well over capacity, and despite the government lauding of eg babylon as digital provider,
GPs are criticised for perception that we are doing (as told to by gov) phone / digital consulting first. don't think NHSE has helped here. not sure any government has to be honest. good government would be making what is happening clear, helping people understand,
that we have always been open, that we are still seeing people face to face and at home as needed&we need help to get that message out. finally I think we will only know who has managed this better when we have all cause mortality, quality of life scores across age groups,
info about grief, loneliness, childhood attainment, etc. we really do need to look after each other, across different bits of NHS, streets, etc. don't think petition competition helping. sorry for length, thankyou for reading, off on my bike.
