My dad is making me clear out his old books but... behind them in the pages & on the shelves I found HUNDREDS of clay nests (mud dauber wasps??) The little pots are so beautiful! I've kept those that didn't smash. Look at this...

For those asking: the wasps made v broad book choices including Angela Carter, Elizabeth Bowen, @MargaretAtwood @Joannechocolat & @HarrietEvans. The mud nests left little marks on the edges of the books when I removed them & some had old larvae inside.

My mum was the reader. She had wonderful taste & she surrounded us with books. She's really the reason I ended up becoming a writer. But at 70 years old she went into an Alzheimer's home. My dad is grieving & I've been helping him clear out a lot of stuff over the last year.
