All the male ‘80s horror “icons” achieved their status via sequels, securing their places through exposure and repetition.

Their women counterparts were all one-and-done, and weren’t allowed to canonize in the same way.
Other sequel-less male horror characters (Madman Marz, Cropsy) were similarly orphaned in this manner, but none of the women got to sequelize. These two even got cliffhangers!
Though Marsha Quist got a sequel eventually - in graphic novel form.
