I think this week has made abundantly clear that TikTok is an extraordinary engine of mainstream culture.

I think as a strategist there are always new things to learn from every platform & moment, and that it's arrogant & close-minded to scoff & pretend "it's all the same" ...
I think "virality" is obviously not new, nor is the tendency to overstate its impact to create some sort of false old media / new media binary.

I think there's no such thing as "plannable virality," but I think that's different than the idea of meeting culture where it exists...
I think every generation deserves the right to explain the importance & meaning of its own culture without being diminished.

I think there's no excuse for men in this industry shouting down / dismissing / mocking / threatening women - not ever, but especially not now...
I think Dreams is one of the greatest songs in the history of the world & I'm not surprised it's the rocket fuel of this inflection point.

I think it's been an awful year, but we should be kind to each other, keep an open mind, and welcome those who have something new to say. ✌️
