some of you NEED to learn the difference between TWs and CWs so here’s a little thread on what they are and when to use them!
TW - trigger warning: if the content you’re posting has the potentional to worsen someone’s mental wellbeing or bring feelings of fear, flashbacks or sadness

e.g. when talking about topics such as violence or mental illnesses
CW - content warning: if the content you’re posting is something that may make someone uncomfortable or be something they don’t necessarily want to see but isn’t discussing a sensitive topic

e.g. NSFW content or food

this is coming from someone who has had anorexia for 4 years and whilst i can’t speak for everyone, food talk makes me uncomfortable but it’s NOT a trigger because it’s something non traumatic that everyone experiences +
putting a tw for food denormalises and demonises it, if you’re going to use a warning for discussions of food, please just use a cw not a tw
i’m getting lots of questions about NSFW content and my viewpoint is that sex is a normal act that isn’t harmful so it’s a content preference but if you’re talking about hard kinks or elements of kinks that could be similar to assault if not done in a consensual environment +
+ then you should use a TW in order to not trigger assault victims https://twitter.com/diorstyless/status/1317208426477424640
