Making your bed, along with a bunch of other chores, is from a combo of factors.

The big ones are ways for parents to create arbitrary goals/punishments and an imposition of universal Rightness in things that Really Don't Need To Be Homogenized (a fave of colonists - see lawns). https://twitter.com/barisanhantu/status/1317050501251264515
So. If you don't like making your bed and it won't get you in trouble.... don't!

If you like a freshly made bed, it can be a nice touchpoint of your day, as long as it's not a stressor.
There's a whole bunch of chores and tasks that we were indoctrinated with as kids.

Dig them out, look at them, analyze if they bring you good and joy and positive help. If not, chuck 'em or adapt them so they do.

There is no one way to "keep house."
This is some of what I offer when I put out my house work advice notices. I can help you figure out what you *actually need* to be doing, and how to best fit it into your needs and abilities.
Sleeping under sheets and a comforter is sensory hell for me, so I adapted. I found blankets, I found a bedspread that I can wash and sleep on.

I still keep it clean and neat bc I like to lounge or use my bed, but a blanket is easy to fold/toss somewhere.
