Thread: Movement as Meditation

How Moving the Body Frees the Soul
🔑 Questions we’ll be exploring in this thread... ❓

- How important is movement?

- How does movement heal us?

- Can meditation be active?

Let’s begin...
1st, How important is movement? 💃

Answer:

IT IS LITERALLY ONE OF THE SINGLE GREATEST THINGS YOU CAN DO FOR YOURSELF ON A DAILY BASIS.

Bar none.

Period.

😤😤😤

EVERYONE reading this can benefit from incorporating some form of regular movement practice in their lives.
I’m not even here to tell you HOW to move, because there are a million and one ways you can that are all great:

- Walking
- Running
- Dancing
- Stretching
- Martial arts
- Lifting weights

I could go on and on.

The point is you need to move because your body was MADE to move.
So first, let’s focus on WHY you need to move.

Despite what our modern comforts might lead you to believe, the human body is made to survive within nature.

We evolved to do A LOT of moving, because we once had no choice.

If you didn’t move?

Guess what, you didn’t survive.
Even today, movement is an absolute necessity.

If you want to accomplish anything at all, from getting up to make food to building a multi-billion dollar company...

You have to MOVE to make it happen.

Outside of meditation & sleep, there is little we accomplish without moving.
💭 Think about it like this:

Mental & emotional energy is the infinite potentiality within you.

Movement is how you channel/ collapse that potentiality into experience within the world.

It’s how the internal interfaces with the external.

How a single point becomes a Universe.
Now that you understand how important movement is, we can move onto our 2nd question:

How does movement heal us? 🧬

Answer:

In every way there is.

From spiritual to physical, movement is an act of health, wealth, and wellness you give in gratitude for your being. 🙏
Through moving and exercising, you’re sending your body a message on a subconscious level:

“I am grateful for you... I respect, love, and appreciate you”

While an overly sedentary lifestyle signals the opposite:

“I don’t care about you, I don’t care if you’re weak & diseased”
And your body, of course, responds to that message.

The benefits of movement are heavily documented.

Just A FEW MINUTES of movement a day gives way to a vast amount of benefits.

From a better, more even mood, to improved health and longevity, movement truly is medicine.
Recommended Practice ❗️

When was the last time you thanked your cells?

Seriously.

Next time you undergo ANY kind of movement - from stretching to intense exercise, affirm the following:

“I am grateful to all of the cells within me, that give me health and allow me to live”
Now, onto our 3rd & final question...

Can meditation be active? 🧘

I bet you already know my answer...

Yes, it absolutely can be.

I lift weights as my primary form of exercise.

The gym, for me, is a temple.

The time I spend in it sacred.

It is a meditative practice for me.
And any form of movement can be meditative.

For both clearing/centering the mind, as well as activating it.

What do I mean?

I also use movement as a bypass for entering the flow state. 🧬

For everyone reading this that does creative work, I’m about to give you a cheat code...
Most of us listen to some kind of music when we work, so next time you do, try the following:

1. Play 1-3 songs on repeat (whatever your preference is, doesn’t matter)

2. Tap your feet, bob your head, rock back & forth to the rhythm.
MOVE with the rhythm you’re experiencing and WATCH how quickly you become fully absorbed by whatever project you’re working on.

For me, it usually takes no longer than 5-10 mins to get completely in the zone.

Flow state activated. ✅
Bottom line:

Movement is necessary, beautiful, and sacred.

I want you to begin to recognize it as such.

Because a life well lived is a life full of movement.
