I’ve never had beef with the Braves, who are the closest thing to my hometown team. But something about this rubs me wrong. https://twitter.com/braves/status/1316953366828908544
Freddie Freeman is going to win NL MVP this year. He’s the best Braves player, their biggest leader, and he does it the right way. He is a 4-time all star, is a 1-time gold glove award winner, is a 1-time silver slugger, and has been in the league 10 years.
Acuña is in his 3rd season. He won ROY in 2018 and Silver Slugger last year.
Acuña plays with emotion. Freddie plays with discipline. That’s why this postseason run has been fueled by Freddie Freeman, not Ronald Acuña Jr.
In the 2020 postseason, Freeman is slugging 3 times what Acuña is. He’s getting on base almost twice as much as Acuña, and he’s scored 2 more runs.
And yet, somehow, some way, Braves Country buys more Acuña and Swanson jerseys than Freddie Freeman. How? Why?
There have only been 89 NL MVP awards given out since its inception in 1931. The 90th one is on the Braves team right now, but instead we are going to hype up and compare the team’s second best player (arguable) to Michael Jordan?
Freeman has always been the homegrown, do-it-the-right-way guy. And if I had it my way, you shouldn’t be walking around with an Acuña or Swanson jersey unless you were there for the “hugs for votes” days.
And that’s my Braves thread. Freeman and the Braves are going for a trip to the World Series tonight in game 5 of the NLCS vs. Los Angeles at 8:08 pm CT.
