A very annoying brain feature I have is what I call Waiting Mode. Like today, I have to leave for an MRI at 2:45. Unfortunately at 12:30 or so, my brain decided to activate Waiting Mode, which means that instead of getting anything done, I just have to sit here and wait.
What that waiting ends up looking like is sitting on my phone for a few minutes, and then pausing that, running through my mental checklist of things I need to do to prepare, and then back to phone scrolling. This repeats for hours. I can’t start anything new or do much else.
Mostly what it means is I end up spending several hours doing nothing except feeling anxious for no good reason. I very much wish my brain wouldn’t do this all the time
If anyone has any tips for how to spend less time in Waiting Mode I would also be open to hearing those
