Hey artists looking for work I was recently asked by a friend for some recs to help them fill some jobs. And ya'll we need to talk about making it easy to find your info on social media so recruiters or ppl in situations like the one I find myself in can help rec you! THREAD
Before I continue I want to clarify these are not requirements. Obvi enjoy twitter however you want! If that means you don't want to implement these things cuz you want twitter to be more lax & fun then that's totally cool! These are tips for ppl actively looking for work.
Also just cuz you implement these things doesn't mean you cant tweet how you want with fun gifs or memes haha! My twitter as well as other industry artists should be a good example of that! You don't have to ONLY tweet art/ professional things, enjoy being social on social media!
Lets talk about the bio section on twitter. If I am browsing the long list of artists I follow for a specific job it helps if I can see in your bio what jobs you do! Having your job titles in the bio makes it easy to spot & ensures that I click on ppl who do what I need!
Surprised to see a lack of contact options. Sure there are DM's but you want options! Not comfortable posting your professional email for all to see? Make a seperate email for public use allowing you to screen any emails you may receive without cluttering your professional email!
Please make sure you are using the most out of your one link that twitter allows you to post in your bio! How? Use Linktree! It's free & allows you to have multiple link options! So link your port! Link your resume! Have it all in one easy to access location!
Make the most out of your pinned tweet! Treat it like a business card or a portfolio sampler! Having all your info in one easy to find location alongside sample work is fantastic! Got a business card you've designed? Why not use it here?!
The less clicks the better! The more time I have to spend hunting your info like a port link, email, job title, etc the less likely I am to recommend you simply because at a certain point the hunting becomes exhausting & there's a higher chance I will move onto the next person.
I will post more if I think of any but that's it for now! I get disappointed/ frustrated when amazing artists with great potential/ ppl have worked on amazing things but I can't find any of the info I need to help recommend them for work. I JUST WANT TO HELP. LET ME HELP YOU.
Also it can be helpful to put in your bio or in your pinned tweet when you are currently looking for work! Though this is not required it may help, who knows! Doesn't hurt to add it if you have the space!
Also want to add that I am no longer looking for ppl to recommend, thank you!❤️✌️
When it comes to a password protected port with NDA work: On social media just say "Industry Pros DM for Private Port" it works (can speak from experience) & it's safe! Recruiters will ask for it if they are interested!
