Saw something on ig that said “there are no two words more harmful in the English dictionary than “good job”” and their argument was it promotes average work, and not great work.
This, is bullshit. You want people to feel empowered to be better. Maybe some people are wired to thrive on negative feedback- but I just don’t think that’s true for most. I tell someone they’re doing a good job when there’s measurable improvement from last time xyz was performed
Let someone know they’re doing a good job and also a solution to do even better- to build on the “good job”. Keep telling people they’re doing good. It’s a sammich process. “You did good! Let’s do this next time to do even better”.
