This was purposely leaked by the Sasse team to prop him up as a "New Republican" for President in 2024. Don't fall for it. As a Nebraskan let me tell you about Ben Sasse. https://twitter.com/MollyJongFast/status/1317133446410608640
When Senator Mike Johanns announced his retirement in 2013, the stage was set for a competitive Republican primary. Out of nowhere comes Ben Sasse, who despite initially polling at 3% statewide name ID, kept getting massive amounts of cash and national endorsements.
This wasn't surprising though, as Sasse had spent years in D.C. working as Chief of Staff in Congress and serving in a Senate confirmed position as Undersecretary at HHS. His rolodex was deep, but what was surprising was his disdain for D.C. despite spending so much time there.
In what still remains one of the silliest campaign ads, Sasse actually proposed moving the capital to Nebraska. A constant theme starts to show here; this is a man who supposedly enjoys talking about "big ideas" but offers bizarrely childlike solutions. https://www.businessinsider.com/ben-sasse-move-capital-to-nebraska-2014-1
December of 2015 was a bleak month as it became evident that Donald Trump had potential to win the Republican nomination. It was also bleak because it was one of the only times a politician used a terrorist attack as the backdrop for a campaign ad to stir up fear.
That politician wasn't Donald Trump though - it was Ben Sasse. Ben literally flew to San Bernardino while first responders were still on the ground to film a campaign ad full of dog whistles. https://www.ourcampaigns.com/AdVideoDetail.html?AdVideoID=5622
I could make this a 100+ tweet thread but I'll just say this, In the six years since he's been in the spotlight he has only proven how low he will go to become somebody. Don't let anyone convince you he is better than Trump. They are one and the same.
