I honestly, sincerely wish white queers would stop deflecting their roles in upholding racism and ableism.

You can be a victim and an oppressor within the same system. In fact, you often learn the behavior of your oppressors! So the likelihood of being both IS HIGH.
In a vain attempt to spare a Black friend of mine having to yet again Educate the Whites, I stepped in (with friend's permission) to explain a point.

And got the seemingly genuine "I don't understand" from a white queer friend in DMs.
I explained.

"I get it, thank you."

They post about it on FB, that they get how whenever white queers are approached with their role in racist oppression they deflect, blah blah.
ONE HOUR after the goddamned FB post of "I get it" they pretty much came back at me with a "but what about" (and interjected with some fatphobic shit) which says to me your "I get it" moment is bullshit.
White queers are upholding racism every. day. and are possibly /more difficult/ to talk to about it because they think their own oppression means THEY COULD NEVER.

... we do. All the time.

Being a victim doesn't automatically not make you an oppressor, too.
And if you are so consumed with your own oppression you literally refuse to stop and listen to the people you are hurting with your own bullshit, you're Doin' It Wrong.
