Deeply furious to learn the Sp*ct*tor published another attack article on the National Trust yesterday, this time singling out a New Museum School Trainee by name. This is disgraceful punching down, targeting a young Black woman just starting her career in the sector.
I& #39;m not going to link to the article, but I am going to link to the blogpost and podcast she made on Thomas Carlyle, which was the reason she was attacked. https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/carlyles-house/features/think-a-likkle-lineage-of-thought---a-podcast-from-ellie-ikiebe-a-new-museum-school-trainee-at-carlyles-house">https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/carlyles-...
Please make no mistake - the people of colour working to research and teach histories of racism in British memory institutions are brave, and Ellie Ikiebe took a risk by doing this work publicly. I& #39;m struck by these words in her National Trust blogpost
I& #39;m asking people to engage with her work and amplify it. I also want people to think about how else they can support Ellie and other people in her position. It is *very bad* for the sector if brave and creative young people are bullied out by the viciousness of the British media
