Thinking about the fact that I’ve seen folks saying that up to 10% of Black men are gonna vote Trump and the fact that every time a Black woman points this out, I see a Black man that I expect would know better get her face about it.
It seems that there is never a good time to talk about Black men’s participation in patriarchy yet it’s always a good time to talk about what we women can do to support Black men and the Black community
Black men’s participation in patriarchy heightens the stress I have around combating racism because we can’t just address racism together, we also have to address the fact that some of our fam choose patriarchy over Black freedom
I’m also really sick of men saying that it has to be something brazen and violent or textbook definition patriarchy before they’ll admit how often gender and sex are playing a role in certain behaviors

I’m tired
It sucks that white supremacist patriarchy has made folks feel dehumanized but more patriarchy is actually not the answer

Seek other pathways to liberation, ones that don’t involve Black women having to carry the emotional load for you
I see the patriarchs are very upset about this tweet. Stay mad, rude, and pathetic, patriarchs. https://twitter.com/ibjiyongi/status/1317097248539484163
