A review's found the plans for an #HS2 hub in Crewe are "unviable" in their current form because of coronavirus. @CheshireEast is looking at building it in phases instead, so some of it won't be ready for the arrival of HS2 in town by (theoretically) the end of the decade (1/3)
A new station entrance, a new road bridge and an internal footbridge are now likely to be "future" phases. A new car park, road junctions and cycle/pedestrian access would be built beforehand though (2/3)
It's because lots of the funding was meant to come from business rates from new firms moving to Crewe attracted by HS2, but the expected economic damage caused by covid is expected to mean that'll take longer to realise.
