So, it has been reported that "other big club execs call Soriano “the terrorist” (somewhat playfully)"... interesting. The CEO of a club (Manchester City) owned by Arabs "playfully" referred to as a terrorist for being outspoken...
It's a reflection of the attitude of football institutions and a lot of the media towards City. It explains why we are always guilty until proven innocent and why even when we are proven innocent we are still guilty. That's how racial bias works...even when it is "playful"
It explains why City is allegedly always "ruining football" while 'Project Big Picture' will eventually be forgotten and the very real attempts to dominate football at the expense of smaller clubs by the Bayern Munich's and Juventus of this world don't create as much of a stir...
If you're on the wrong side of the racial spectrum none of this comes as a surprise. It's easily recognizable. It's the same reason Raheem Sterling's coverage in the press was always unnecessarily negative compared to other footballers as successful as he is...
Khaldoon Al Mubarak responding to a statement by Javier Tebas last year said "I think there's something deeply wrong in bringing ethnicity into the conversation. This is just ugly, I think the way he is combining teams just because of ethnicity. I find that very disturbing..."
Unfortunately Javier Tebas is just a more blatant example of the kind of racial bias faced by Manchester City. The other examples though more subtle are just as insidious. When was the last time you playfully referred to someone as a terrorist for being outspoken?
Again, if you're on the wrong end of the racial spectrum it's familiar. City is at the football party but we've had to endure everything from cold stares, thinly veiled insults and derogatory remarks to letters written to the bouncers at CAS to kick us out. We're not leaving.
