#StateofCare @CareQualityComm report released today clearly demonstrates the impact of Cov-19 on health and care and the scale of challenge going forward. But it also highlights positive examples of innovation and transformation that need to be harnessed https://bit.ly/37aMCDn
As in our paper Here to Stay, @CareQualityComm highlight the major practical challenges that need to be overcome in running services in the pandemic. With winter approaching & the second wave of infections rising the challenges shouldn't be underestimated https://bit.ly/3nUQazC
#StateofCare lays bare the fragile state of adult social care. In a crisis of its own when the pandemic hit, problems in the sector were exacerbated by Covid-19. We welcome @CareQualityComm's calls for reform to be “tackled now – not at some point in the future”.
@CareQualityComm recognises that social care reform must include a long-term strategy for the workforce. The last workforce strategy for social care was over a decade ago & we can't wait another decade for much-needed support, training & investment. https://bit.ly/379JPdO
#StateofCare offers a wealth of learning from the 1st wave of Cov-19. As the 2nd wave gathers pace, it’s vital that social care in particular is adequately supported to manage infection control while continuing to provide its breadth of crucial services. https://bit.ly/3iXnF0p
But it also reveals gaps in our knowledge. @CareQualityComm notes that deaths in private homes were 30% to 40% above what would normally be seen, but we know little about the services and support people have received at the end of life.
